As the audience entered the Boston Opera House, they were engulfed in sights and sounds signaling a very different event. 2016 marked a major expansion for TEDxCambridge. The recent Fall Event in September attracted over 2,000 guests. The event, directed by Dmitri Gunn, relocated to the Opera House in the spring and he again selected AVFX Boston to provide all audio visual services for the sixth time. AVFX supported the event with widescreen projection mapping on a set designed by Paul Tate dePoo III of New York.
The audience was immersed in dynamic imagery provided by Samo Visual. Samo was tasked to integrate event branding, developed by Tank Design, into their animation. This assignment was a challenge AVFX approached with great confidence having provided projection mapping for past TEDxCambridge events and a growing portfolio of corporate and non-profit events.
Four 18K Barco projectors were mapped, focused and aligned to create a unique look and feel for each of the six TEDx presentations and the closing musical performance featuring Masary Studios with musicians from Berklee College of Music, Grooversity, and more!
Lighting and sound were also designed and executed by AVFX technicians and an AVFX technical director called the show.
“Projection mapping is one of the best technologies for meetings. It lowers the cost for building a stage, gives you more flexibility and shortens the time to change the look of the set…the resolution is amazing and the movement of images added the wow factor.”
